    The rose has long been considered the queen of flowers, and today each shade of this flower has become a symbol of a certain feeling or emotion, so giving one rose or a whole bouquet, you can say a lot to your loved one without words. Most of us did not even think that there are more than 25,000 varieties of this flower all over the world, and experienced and qualified gardeners divide all roses into certain groups.

    How are roses classified today? By what criteria and characteristics distinguish one variety of flower from another?

    Classification

    Today, all types of roses are classified according to several basic criteria, which allows not only choosing them as a luxurious gift for a loved one, but also growing them on your own plot, focusing on the climatic conditions of the region.

    The most common and well-known varieties of roses today are:

    • Park. Differ in endurance and ability to survive even in severe winter frosts.
    • Bush. They grow in different directions and are distinguished by their unpretentiousness, but they bloom, like wild plants, only once a season.
    • Ground cover. They grow like creeping shrubs right on the ground, forming a beautiful colored carpet, several meters in diameter.
    • Climbing. They grow like ground cover roses, with long lashes, but not horizontally, but vertically, so such plants constantly require vertical bases or supports.
    • Repairing. A distinctive feature of the flowers is their re-blooming at the end of summer, which is no longer as exuberant as in spring, but still quite beautiful.
    • Hybrid tea. Such roses attract gardeners with abundant flowering, lasting until the first frost, which allows you to always admire the beauty in your area.
    • Dwarf. According to their name, they are miniature flowers, but they are distinguished by a wide variety of shades and colors.

    Other criteria that professional gardeners are guided by when classifying roses among themselves are:

    The number of petals. On this basis, roses are divided into:

    • Simple, with less than 8 petals;
    • Semi-double, with the number of petals from 8 to 20;
    • Moderately double, where the number of petals is from 21 to 29;
    • Medium double, with 30-39 petals;
    • Gustomahrovye, where the number of petals reaches 40 pieces or more.

    Flower shape. The main types of forms by which roses are classified and distinguished from each other are:

    • flat;
    • pitcher;
    • bowl-shaped;
    • Rosette;
    • Conical or goblet;
    • rounded;
    • pompom;
    • Cross-rosette.

    Today, the number of varieties in which the “queen of flowers” is represented is so huge that, regardless of the region and climatic conditions in it, gardeners can afford to decorate their plots and houses with roses.

    Despite the fact that the number of rose species already exceeds tens of thousands, experts continue to develop new varieties that differ not only in their unique external data, but also in frost resistance, multiple flowering and other properties and characteristics.

    To decorate your site, house or territory of a public building, beautiful and original, it is not necessary to be a serious specialist or a professional florist.

    It is enough just to study the main varieties of roses, look at the photos presented on various sites and choose exactly those flowers that will please the eye with delicious shades, multiple blooms and resistance to cold climatic conditions, temperature changes and even severe frosts.
